PERFORMANCE/TOUR: Charles Lloyd New Quartet at the Rose Theater

Charles Lloyd’s name alone might sell tickets as a symbol of integrity and spiritual health and every-man-has-his-season. A saxophonist and bandleader, he was a friendly and popular face of post-Coltrane jazz in the 1960s. Then he retreated for much of the next two decades, and came out the other side an elegant older man with a stronger, softer art…

There are also several clubs and restaurants that offer live jazz every night of the week…

Tune in and hear fabulous Jazz tonight! Tonight Professor Bop will…

LP from 7-9pm Professor Bop will be playing music from the classic album, “Sketches of Spain,” with Miles Davis and Gil Evans.

On The Jazz At Lincoln Center Orchestra

For those in the know, it’s usually more fun to talk about Wynton Marsalis and his institution than it is to talk about their music. But the JLCO’s recent tour reminds us that the house band ain’t so bad, either.
